The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of Grand Bar & Salon is a dynamic nightlife leader responsible for driving the evening experience and energy. This role goes beyond traditional restaurant management; focusing on room curation, guest flow, guest experience and atmosphere to create a space that feels intentional, elevated, and distinctly New York. The AGM is a highly visible floor leader, setting the tone each night by balancing hospitality, music, lighting, and service execution. You are responsible for ensuring the room evolves throughout the evening; from early cocktail energy to late-night vibrancy while maintaining service standards and financial performance. This role requires strong instincts in nightlife, an ability to read a room in real time, and a leadership style that energizes the team while delivering a seamless, high-touch guest experience.

Key Responsibilities

Nightlife & Room Curation Focus

  • Ensure music progression matches the evolution of the night
  • Manage lighting levels, room transitions, and overall ambiance
  • Curate guest mix and table distribution to maintain energy
  • Be highly aware of who is in the room and why
  • Adjust in real-time to maintain momentum and avoid energy dips

Guest Experience

  • Deliver a luxury nightlife experience with strong NYC identity
  • Be present and visible; actively engaging with guests throughout service
  • Recognize VIPs, regulars, and high-value guests
  • Resolve issues immediately with confidence and professionalism
  • Create an environment that feels exclusive but welcoming

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, coach, and develop Team Members (TMs) in a nightlife setting
  • Conduct impactful pre-shifts focused on:
    • Energy and tone for the night
    • Guest profile and expectations
    • Key operational priorities
  • Ensure accountability across all roles
  • Build a team that is:
    • Confident
    • Engaging
    • Fast and detail-oriented

Operational Responsibilities

 

  • Maintain consistent floor presence during service
  • Oversee service execution across bar and lounge
  • Ensure all standards of service and product quality are met
  • Manage scheduling and labor to align with business levels
  • Support inventory controls and beverage program execution
  • Work closely with:
    • Security (flow, safety, guest management)
    • Marketing (programming, guest engagement)
    • Events (buyouts and activations)

Financial & Performance Focus

  • Drive revenue through:
    • Table management and pacing
    • Guest engagement and upselling culture
    • Strategic floor management
  • Monitor nightly performance and adjust in real time
  • Support cost control initiatives across labor and product
